What's On in October!
A quick update to our autumnal events list…although our writing workshop has been postponed until a later date, our late-afternoon Friday Forum will focus on the nature and spiritual poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins on the 9th at 4pm, along with other readings and accounts from local poets and Swedish special guests.
We’re hosting local author’s first hometown show!
Our big event of the week will be our event with local writer and musician Emma Lee Moss, who we’re delighted to welcome to the shop. She’ll be reading from her new book My Cantopop Nights, published by Vintage and available in the shop, and playing some of her Emmy the Great repertoire.
The Guardian did a really good feature on Emma’s book and the songs featured here.
This will be a really special night with an established and innovative musician and writer.
Anniversary News
The celebrations for the Shop Anniversary on Saturday the 17th October are still evolving, but at the moment it looks like we’ll have some live musicians, poems, and other readings performed in the afternoon from 3pm. There’ll be snacks from Shearers and craft beer from The Flying Trunk Brewery, and then into the evening there’s DJs and dancing in the shop! All welcome and its free!
Halloween Shenanigans at Day’s of the Dead
We’re teaming up with Forest Row’s Bazaar for the first Halloween Block Party- celebrating the season with tales and sounds of folk horror, other worlds, creepy critters, and the impending Zombie Apocalypse- more details in the next newsletter!
